El primer Golden Retriever llegó a nuestra casa en 1978, por lo que durante toda mi vida siempre ha habido un Golden Retriever en nuestro hogar. He tenido la suerte de criar, con mis padres, y después presentar a Blue, Sh Ch, Ir Sh, Dk Sh & Int Sh Ch Abinvale Traguardo, al CC, BOB y Gundog Group 2 en Crufts 2014. También es nuestro primer campeón del Reino Unido y terminamos 2014 como Top Golden Retriever en el Reino Unido e Irlanda. Después de Blue, también presenté a su hermano menor Denver, Sh Ch & Ir Sh Ch Abinvale The Aviator a su título en el Reino Unido en 2015 y su hermana Tegan, Sh Ch & Ir Sh Ch Abinvale Mystic River a su título en el Reino Unido en 2016. Tegan también ha ganado 2 BIS en Exposiciones de Campeonato para todas las razas en 4 días en Irlanda en el circuito de Munster en agosto de 2015. Más recientemente he presentado a Cody, Sh Ch & Ir Sh Ch Abinvale Levanto, y ha ganado el Grupo Gundog en la Exposición de Campeonato de Scottish Kennel Club en mayo de 2017.
Junto con mis padres, hemos tenido o criado el Golden Retriever más premiado en Irlanda en 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 y 2017 y la mejor perra de cría desde 2010 hasta 2017 inclusive. Nuestro Gunhills Blue Secret at Abinvale, Sophie, fue la mejor hembra del Reino Unido en 2015, donde su progenie había ganado la mayor cantidad de CC durante ese año.
Fui miembro activo del Young Kennel Club y asistí al curso de Desarrollo Personal y Liderazgo en asociación con Outward Bound y, a través de esto, tuve la oportunidad de trabajar en Crufts como parte del equipo de gestión del ring del Young Kennel Club durante tres años. También fui miembro del primer equipo del Young Kennel Club Outward Bound Charity Challenge y recaudé más de 1000 £ para el Kennel Club Charitable Trust. The first Golden Retriever arrived in our house in 1978 so my life there has always been a Golden Retriever in our home. My introduction to the dog show scene came in 1992 when our first "show dog" came to live with the family. Initially I showed mainly in the Junior Handling classes under both Kennel Club and Irish Kennel Club jurisdiction. As I grew older and more Golden Retrievers arrived on the scene I progressed to also showing in the breed classes.
My interest continued throughout my time at school and university and following my graduation I returned home and my interest in dogs continues. Work permitting, I attend as many shows as possible in both the United Kingdom and Ireland and on one occasion recently we travelled to Belgium to compete. I am currently planning another trip to Europe to compete with our dogs.
I have been lucky to have bred, with my parents, and then handle, Blue, Sh Ch, Ir Sh, Dk Sh & Int Sh Ch Abinvale Traguardo, to the Dog CC, BOB and Gundog Group 2 at Crufts 2014. He is also our first UK Show Champion and finished 2014 as Top Golden Retriever in both the UK and Ireland. Following on from Blue I have also handled his younger brother Denver, Sh Ch & Ir Sh Ch Abinvale The Aviator to his UK title in 2015 and his sister Tegan, Sh Ch & Ir Sh Ch Abinvale Mystic River to her UK Title in 2016. Tegan has also won 2 All Breed Championship Show BIS’s in 4 days in Ireland on the Munster Circuit in August 2015. More recently I have handled Cody, Sh Ch & Ir Sh Ch Abinvale Levanto, to win the Gundog Group at the Scottish Kennel Club Championship Show in May 2017.
Along with my parents we have owned or bred the top winning Golden Retriever in Ireland in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017 and the top brood bitch from 2010 to 2017 inclusive. Our Gunhills Blue Secret at Abinvale, Sophie, was UK Top Brood Bitch in 2015 where her progeny had won the most number of CCs for that year.
I was an active member of the Young Kennel Club and attended the Personal Development and Leadership course in association with Outward Bound and through this I had the opportunity to work at Crufts as part of the Young Kennel Club ring management team for three years. I was also a member of the first Young Kennel Club Outward Bound Charity Challenge team and raised over £1000 for the Kennel Club Charitable Trust. Through my involvement with the Young Kennel Club I have progressed and now I am a full Member of The Kennel Club.
At present I am a committee member of the Ulster Golden Retriever Club and I am the current Health Representative for the Ulster Golden Retriever Club for the Breed Council Health Sub Committee.
I award Green Stars (CAC’s) and CACIB’s in all breeds in Group 8 and the Group and Green Stars (CAC’s) in GSP’s, GWHP’s, Hungarian Vizslas, Italian Spinone’s, Pointers, English Setters, Gordon Setters and Irish Setters in Group 7 under the Irish Kennel Club jurisdiction (FCI).
